How to connect your AI API Key

To use Websito.io, you need to connect your own AI API key. This enables Websito to generate content using the model of your choice — whether that’s OpenAI, Mistral, Anthropic, or any of the other supported providers.

The connection process happens during your first page creation inside a website. Here’s how it works step by step:

🧱 Step 1: Create a New Website

On your Websito dashboard, click the “New” button in the top bar to create a new website.

Give your website a name (e.g. "My Website") and click Create.

📄 Step 2: Add a Page to Your Website

After your site is created, you’ll be redirected to the website builder.

Now, click the “+” icon on the left sidebar to create your first page.

Enter a page slug, such as:

• index (for the homepage)
• about
• pricing
• blog

Then click Create.

🔑 Step 3: Connect Your API Key

Once the page is created, the AI Widget will appear in the bottom-right corner.

Click the AI Widget icon, then click the stars icon to open the API management modal.

Next, click “Create new” to add your API key.

In the modal:

• Select your AI provider (e.g. OpenAI, Mistral, Anthropic)
• Enter the model name (e.g. gpt-4-turbo, claude-3-opus)
• Paste your API key (from your AI provider dashboard)

Click Save to confirm. You're now connected!
