Troubleshooting & FAQ
My Edits Aren’t Applying - How to Fix It
If you’ve made changes in Websito’s editor and they’re not appearing as expected on your site, here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve it.
📍 1. Make Sure You’re Editing the Right Section
Each element is outlined when you hover over it. Make sure you’re clicking the actual section you want to edit — not a nested element or empty block.

Tip: Click once to select, then confirm the popup is showing the element you meant to change.
✏️ 2. Edit via the Popup – Not Just the AI Prompt
You can edit a section in two ways:
- By entering a new prompt (e.g. “Make this section about pricing”)
- Or by clicking "Edit HTML" in the popup to make direct changes
Sometimes prompts don’t apply well due to vague instructions or model limitations.

🧠 4. The AI Edit Was Ignored or Didn’t Work
If you used the AI Widget and your prompt wasn’t specific enough, it may have been skipped or had no effect.
Fix:
Use clear prompts like:
Change the headline to "Pricing That Scales With You"
or
Make this section about our 24/7 customer support, including a testimonial.
⌛ 5. You Didn’t Click “Save”
If you made changes but didn’t save them, the edits won’t persist.
Fix:
Always click Save at the bottom of the edit popup (HTML or prompt-based) before closing it.
🧪 6. The Section Is Custom or AI-Locked
In rare cases, a section may be generated in a format that prevents edits unless you're using direct HTML.
Fix:
Try editing using the HTML tab inside the section popup, or regenerate the section using a new prompt.
🆘 Still Not Working?
If none of the above helps:
- Try refreshing and editing again
- Try editing a different section to see if the problem is isolated
- Contact support with your site name, section name, and what you tried to edit
We’re happy to take a closer look and help you fix it.
Once the issue is resolved, your edits should appear instantly in the builder. Happy customizing! 🎨
